The Daytona 500 is simply days away, but, like everything this year and last, changes are made thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. The 63rd running over the long-lasting race will happen on Feb. 14 ahead of just 30,000 fans, against the standard 100,000 plus at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach , Fla., with social distancing and other guidelines in situ .

Ahead of the good American Race, the qualifying events will determine the order and position of every driver. The 1-2 finishers within the pole qualifying will get the front row for the Daytona 500. Once the remainder of the poll qualifying numbers are determined, those results are used for the Duel races. Drivers who finished in odd numbered spots will participate in Duel favorite . Even numbered positions will race within the second of the 2 Duels.

Daytona 500 qualifying are going to be run on Wednesday and therefore the Duels at Daytona will happen on Thursday.

Unlike other races, qualifying for the Daytona 500 takes on a two-tiered system. Wednesday night’s laps at Daytona International Speedway will determine the front row for the race, then the remainder of the starting order will close supported leads to two duel races Thursday night.

Each driver will take one lap round the 2.5-mile track Wednesday, and therefore the fastest two cars get the 2 front row spots for Sunday afternoon’s Daytona 500. Everyone else heads to duels.
